A Minnesota Readers' Theater Presentation |
| Four of Minnesota's finest children's authors will engage us in an outstanding Readers' Theater based on their work. Join our featured authors -- John Coy, Lynne Jonell, Marsha Chall, and David LaRochelle -- for an evening of fun, exploration, drama, and recreation as they reveal another side of their talents. Handouts for developing Readers' Theater in your classroom, readers group, library, or just for fun will be provided for attendees. Don't miss this celebration of reading and authors! |

John will be conducting our Friday afternoon workshop, participating in the Readers' Theater production, and appearing as a featured author on Saturday! John has written picture books, as well as novels that appeal to middle grade and young adult readers. Who can forget Night Driving or Strong to the Hoop? John's novels Crackback and Boxout focus on football and basketball, featuring boys faced with difficult choices. John lives in Minneapolis and enjoys being a frequent world traveler. Lynne is well-known for her picture books Mom Pie and I Need a Snake. In 2008 she won a Minnesota Book Award for Emmy and the Incredible Shrinking Rat, a fantasy novel replete with humor, mystery, and adventure. Her latest book is Emily and the Home for Troubled Girls. Lynne lives in Plymouth, MN, and writes, she says, in order "to give freedom to her readers".

Marsha writes children's chapter books as well as picture books. Up North at the Cabin, a Minnesota Book Award finalist, and Sugarbush Spring are perennial favorites of those who live and play in the Great North. Marsha enjoys teaching, writing and presenting workshops throughout our region. |
David's funny and captivating book, The Best Pet of All won a Minnesota Book Award, and his young adult novel, Absolutely, Positively Not was included in ALA's Best Books for Young Adults.He lives in Minneapolis and is not only a frequent visitor to schools, but is a pumpkin carver whose creations have been featured on "Good Morning America"!
